Logic puzzle test
Twelve reasoning puzzles: six number series and six pattern grids. They are generated fresh each time, so you can play again and race your friends.
What kind of puzzles are these?
Both puzzle types test fluid reasoning, the ability to spot rules in information you have never seen before.
- Number series: find the next number. The rule might be adding a growing amount, alternating two patterns, or multiplying and then adding.
- Pattern matrices: a 3×3 grid of shapes follows rules across rows and columns. Pick the shape that completes the grid.
How the puzzles are made
Every puzzle is created by an algorithm the moment you start, using seven kinds of number rules and four kinds of shape rules. Because nothing is copied from published tests, the puzzles are original and you will rarely see the same one twice.
Why there is no IQ number
A real IQ score compares you with a large, carefully sampled group of people who took exactly the same test under controlled conditions. An online puzzle set cannot do that honestly, so TraitMix shows your score out of 12 and your time instead. It is a fun challenge, not an intelligence assessment.
Tips for a better score
- Look at the differences between numbers, then at the differences between those differences.
- In grids, check rows first, then columns, then diagonals.
- If you are stuck, eliminate options that break an obvious rule.
Frequently asked questions
Is this an IQ test?
No. It uses the same kinds of puzzles found in reasoning tests, but without a norm group no honest IQ figure can be given.
Why do I get different puzzles each time?
The puzzles are generated at random from rule templates, so each round is new.
Is there a time limit?
No. Your total time is recorded so you can compare with friends, but you can take as long as you need.
